  • Tickets available for A Taste of the Holidays Friday

    With A Taste of the Holidays, participants will be treated to a "wine, food and gift experience" Friday. From 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., the downtown Cartersville event will include a silent auction, holiday gift preview, wine tasting, door prizes from merchants and food sampling.
  • Coming events

    Nov. 18 -- Ball Room Dance CLASS will be held from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the gym behind the senior center at Beavers due to the Thanksgiving luncheon.
  • Local students receive collegiate honors

    This fall's freshman class at the University of Georgia includes 247 recipients of the Charter Scholarship, which is named for the university's standing as the nation's first state-chartered public university. Heidi Barrs, a native of Bartow County and daughter of Donna Welchel, was among those selected to receive the scholarship. Barrs attended Cartersville High School and will receive $1,000, in addition to the HOPE Scholarship.
