Mr. Donald Ray Cook, 65, of 475 Old Highway 41 N.W., Adairsville, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at Cartersville Medical Center.
He was born in Gordon County, March 3, 1944, son of the late James Burley and Lula Bell Pearson Cook. Mr. Cook was a member of Dry Creek Baptist Church and the Adairsville Masonic Lodge No. 168. He had been employed as a security officer at Mohawk Industries, Calhoun. Mr. Cook was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ronald and Howard Cook.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Reed Cook of Adairsville, to whom he was married Oct. 6, 1966; two daughters, Selina Register and Cherie Cook, both of Adairsville; three grandchildren, Chase Atkins, Kinsley Cook, and Addison Cook; a sister, Evelyn (Dennis) Garland of White; a brother-in-law, Terry (Dian) Reed of Adairsville.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 13, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Owens, the Rev. Larry Towe and the Rev. Gary Hibberts officiating. Interment will follow in Dry Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Adairsville.
Pallbearers will be Harry Evans, Brandon Evans, Chris Evans, Sammy Cook, Douglas Cook, Charles Hight, Sammy Towe and Charles Gibson.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at Barton Funeral Home.
R. Dudley Barton & Son Funeral Home, Adairsville, will be in charge of funeral arrangements for Mr. Donald Cook.
