Victim foils would-be robbers

Cartersville police investigated a foiled armed robbery Wednesday morning at the Courtesy Inn, 2335 U.S. Highway 411. The victim told police that a woman knocked on his door at about 1 a.m. Seeing only her through the peephole, he opened the door and a man waiting out of his sight charged through the door, brandished a knife and demanded money.

When the victim fought back, the man panicked and fled the scene. The victim described the man as white, in his early 20s, 5’5” and “skinny,” wearing a cap turned backwards, sunglasses and a gray polka dot bandana. He was carrying a 6-inch fixed knife with a non-serrated blade. He said the woman was also white, with red hair and wearing a red-and-white Georgia Bulldogs shirt. The pair were seen leaving in a silver Dodge Caravan.
