Dear Editor,

On April 25, 1990, a mere 21 years ago, my younger brother Robert "Monty" Woody and his wife Patricia Ann Jefferson Woody were murdered in their home here in Cartersville, GA. As this week is Crime Victim's Rights Week, I felt a need to write this letter.

Who could have imagined that 21 years would pass, and those responsible would still not be held accountable for their actions. My brother was a young man with a sweet wife and their marriage was a relatively new one, less than 3 years. At the time, I had 2 little boys. Those boys are now grown men themselves and one of them is serving his country in the Navy, married now and with his own 2 little boys. I had 2 more children after my brother Monty was murdered and it hurts to think about them never knowing their Uncle Monty and Aunt Ann. They both loved children and I have often wondered if they would be parents themselves by now. Our families will never know, because Monty and Ann's lives were snatched away brutally.....

21 years of not celebrating their birthdays

21 years of not having Christmas with them

21 years of tears and missing them always

This week, please take time to remember the families and friends of ALL murdered persons here in Bartow County. We miss them terribly.

Terrie Woody Southerland
