When a Bartow County Sheriff’s Office deputy arrived on scene, a witness told him a man, later identified as Bryan Hale, was walking through the parking lot while yelling obscenities at the Ingles staff. The witness said Hale would allegedly yell, “[expletive] all of you,” and stand against a light pole in the parking lot.
The deputy found Hale at the nearby Sonic, where he was sitting at one of the outside tables. When asked how much he had to drink, Hale said four pints.
Hale said he was walking through Ingles eating a bag of chips he got off the shelf when a store employee told him he needed to pay for the chips. According to the report, “he stated this made him very angry because they were going to lose his business.”
Hale added when he left the store some of the staff began to laugh at him, so he yelled at the employees because, “they had no right to laugh at him.”
The deputy placed Hale under arrest for disorderly conduct.
While interviewing witnesses, the store employee said she saw Hale walking up and down aisles eating a bag of chips. When she told Hale he needed to pay for the chips, he reportedly became angry and flashed his wallet, saying he had plenty of money. After telling Hale he needed to go pay at the register, he became angrier and the employee told him to leave.
The complainant said she wanted Hale served with a criminal trespass warning. However, Hale refused to sign it.
