Cass High was a little sluggish against Therrell High early but still managed a win and then the Lady Colonels woke up to hammer Washington High and pick up a pair of important region victories in high school volleyball action Tuesday.

Head coach Jamie Horton said the road wins helped the Lady Colonels even their record in Region 6-AAAA to 2-2.

“It’s always a good thing to even your record in region play,” he added.

The Lady Colonels defeated Therrell High 25-17 and 25-22 and then took the measure of Washington High 25-13 and 25-10.

Major contributors to the victories were Brooklyn Whitener, who had 3 aces and 2 kills versus Therrell and 6 aces against Washington; Amber Bowen, who notched 3 kills and 2 aces against Therrell; Chelsea Morris, who tallied 7 aces against Washington; and Janee Callahan, who was credited with 2 kills.
