Mr. Olden Livsey, 78, of Cartersville, passed away on Friday, Nov. 22. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Christ Temple Holiness Church. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday, Nov. 25, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Mack Eppinger and Sons Funeral Home.

On the morning of Nov. 22, the Lord sent his angels to retrieve one of his workers to finally let him rest for all the good works he has done on this earth.

Olden was born Jan. 28, 1935, in Bartow County to the late Bessie Perkins and Thomas Livsey. He was educated in the Bartow County School System in his early years, and later went on to graduate from Rome High School.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army and Merchant Marines from Jan. 23, 1953, to Jan. 20, 1956. He was decorated with the following medals and badges: Korean Service Medal, Bronze Service Star, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Olden worked 20 years as a longshoreman for the Merchant Marines.

Olden came to know the Lord in his early 20s. He joined Christ Temple Holiness Church and was ordained as an Elder of the Church. He enjoyed serving the Lord, praying and helping others. He had a gift of prayer. He truly believed in the Word and before his passing he stated, “[He] would miss the church and the Senior Citizen Center.”

He leaves, to cherish his loving memories, two children, Vincent and Carolyn Livsey Lyons, and Olden Livsey Jr.; grandchild, Vincent and Tiffany Lyons; brother, Samuel and Sinclair Livsey; and a host of nieces, nephews, sister-in-law, other relatives, saints and friends.
