William “Bill” Lee Rider, 81, of Rydal, passed away Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at his residence.

Born on Feb. 18, 1932, in Excelsior Springs, Mo., he was the son of the late William Earl Rider and the late Irene Hunter Rider. He was also preceded in death by his two sisters. Bill served his country in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict and later worked as a district sales manager for Buick, Volkswagen and Porsche Audi. On July 28, 1956, he and his beloved, Janice LaRue Raper, were united in marriage. Among Bill’s passions were the outdoors, woodworking, making knives, painting and cooking. He was truly the epitome of a “jack of all trades.” But, he loved his family above all. Bill will be missed, beyond words, by all who knew, respected and loved him.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Rider; son, William Lee Rider Jr.; daughter, Suzanne Rider; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation was held Feb. 18, in Excelsior Springs, Mo., at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home. This was followed by a graveside service which included a “three-volley salute,” taps and burial in the Masonic Cemetery.
