Cartersville police received a complaint at around 11 p.m. Friday evening from a woman who said a prescription bottle of Xanax was stolen out of her purse earlier in the day, according to an incident report. The complainant had been playing cards with a group of friends at a relative’s house in the afternoon. The complainant placed her purse inside a room in the house, but when she returned home nearly six hours later, she noticed that her pill bottle, which she stated contained 70 to 75 Xanax pills, had been stolen.
Since there were multiple people at the house where she had been playing cards, the complainant told Cartersville police she was unsure of who might have taken the pills and just wanted to make a report.

A shirtless male drew the attention of Cartersville police Friday, leading to his eventual arrest for possession of a schedule III drug.
According to an incident report, David McKay stumbled into the parking lot of Parkway North, 1400 Joe Frank Harris Parkway, carrying a couple of Bud Light beer cans, one of which was open. Upon seeing Cartersville police approaching from around the corner, McKay ducked his head and walked briskly toward the opposite direction.
When Cartersville police made contact with McKay, he appeared intoxicated and seemed nervous, failing to make eye contact with the officer. McKay acknowledged being on probation, and he consented to a search of his vehicle.
Inside the passenger side door compartment of McKay’s vehicle was a Marlboro cigarette pack, which contained five green-colored pills. McKay was then placed under arrest for possession of hydrocodone.
