Adairsville Lady Tigers win in 11, Cass loses to NW Whitfield in 5

Adairsville’s Kinsey Liscio’s RBI triple drove in Erica Cannon with the winning run in the 11th inning as the Lady Tigers defeated the Coahulla Creek Lady Colts, 2-1, in the opening round of the Region 5-AAA softball playoffs Tuesday.

Scoreless after eight innings, the Lady Tigers pushed across the first run of the game on Taylor Gibb’s RBI groundout. It went to the 10th inning after the Lady Colts tied it with a run in the bottom of the ninth.

With the win, Adairsville plays Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe today at 5 p.m.

In other region playoff action on Tuesday, the Cass Lady Colonels were limited to just one hit in their 9-0 loss to Northwest Whitfield.

Betsy Ballard got the lone hit for the Lady Colonels, who will play the Pickens vs. Dalton winner today at 5 p.m. With a win, Cass will play again at 7 p.m.

Woodland Plays at 2 p.m.

Other playoff games scheduled for today include the Region 5-AAAAA playoffs with Woodland vs. East Paulding at 2 p.m.

A Lady Wildcat win qualifies them for a spot in the state tournament.
