With a win tonight at Doug Cochran Stadium, Cass would have victory No. 5, which has not happened for the Colonels since 2006 when former player and current Georgia Bulldog running back Richard Samuel helped lead his alma mater to the playoffs as a junior.
Cass has failed to reach the playoffs in the five seasons since, but it appears that a legitimate opportunity to break that drought exists as the Colonels embark on the final weeks of the regular season.
“ … [We are going to take it] one week at a time. That’s how we’ve taken it up to this point,” Cass coach Rick Casko said, not looking beyond today’s home game with Pickens. “[I am] very pleased with the way our kids play. They play hard and fast.”
The Colonels are coming off, perhaps, their best two games of the season, including last Friday’s 35-7 win over Dalton — the first-ever for Cass against the Catamounts.
