Mr. Owens was born Oct. 17, 1943, in Louisville, Ky., son of Virginia Parkinson Nickel and the late Frederick Edward Nickel. He was a retired Bartow County Sheriff’s Office deputy, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Cartersville Masonic Lodge #63 F. & A.M. He was preceded in death by his adoptive father, Kenneth Harry Owens.
Survivors include his wife, Robin Owens; children, Tammy Jo Lindsey, Christine Natalie Champagne, Frederick Edward Owens II, Robert Kenneth and Marie Owens; grandchildren, Tyler Joseph Champagne, Ryan Michael Champagne, Krysta Faith Owens, Kiah Hope Owens, Autumn Marie Owens, Isobel Katherine Owens and Austin Daniel Owens; his mother, Virginia Reed; brother, Kenneth Owens; mother-in-law, Evelyn Pederick; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted today at 2 p.m. in the Owen Funeral Home chapel with Buck Buchanan and Rev. Keith Willard officiating.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Owen Funeral Home.
