Mr. Joseph Isaiah (Buddy) Henderson, 77, of 1 Etowah Terrace, Rome, formerly of Lindale, passed away on Wednesday evening, Sept. 12, 2012, in a Rockmart nursing facility.
Mr. Henderson was born in Floyd County on May 9, 1935, son of the late Jasper Isaiah Henderson and the late Geneva Rebecca Brown Henderson. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Prior to his retirement, he was an auctioneer and owned and operated the Southeastern Auction Company. He was a member of the East Rome Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Eugene Henderson. Survivors include his wife, the former Barbara Ellen Broadway, to whom he was married on Dec. 9, 1961; one son, Joseph Kirk Henderson, Silver Creek; one sister, Ann Henderson Johnson, Cartersville; one brother, Donald L. Henderson, and his wife Gail, Rome; one grandson, Joseph Connor Henderson, Silver Creek; nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside and interment services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, at 12:30 p.m. at the Georgia National Cemetery near Canton with the Rev. Kevin Mooney officiating. The American Legion Post #5 Honor Guard will present the military honors.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice Advantage, 300 Chastain Center Blvd., Ste. 345, Kennesaw, GA 30144.
