A Bartow County Sheriff’s Office deputy arrived at 504 Cass Pine Log Road Sunday afternoon in response to a theft report. The victim said she heard a car outside her house and when she looked out the window she saw a heavyset white man backing a Chrysler PT Cruiser out of her driveway.

Since it was so close to the house, the victim went outside to check on her property. That was when she realized her pool was missing from her driveway.

The deputy searched the area for the PT Cruiser, but did not find it.

Man disrespects judge,

attempts to flee holding area

Saturday afternoon a BCSO deputy was assigned to the bond hearings at the Bartow County jail when he saw Zachary Griffith fall asleep during the hearing. He told Griffith he needed to be respectful by staying awake and paying attention. Griffith instead laid down in the seat and closed his eyes.

When the judge called him up for his hearing, Griffith was, according to the report, “very disrespectful” and started interrupting the judge and laughing at him.

After the hearings were over, Griffith and the other inmates were returned to the booking area. Griffith demanded Facebook should be placed on the kiosk in his dorm area. When the deputy told him to stop talking and stand by the wall, Griffith instead continued to interrupt the deputy while he was dealing with other inmates.

As he was being continuously disrespectful and not complying with any orders, the deputy tried to place Griffith on a disciplinary lockdown in a holding cell.

On the way to the cell, Griffith said he was not going there before he turned and allegedly attacked a second deputy by wrapping his arms around the deputy’s leg and trying to pick the deputy up. The second deputy hit him over the head with a closed fist, but Griffith did not let go.

The first deputy ordered Griffith to let the other man go, and when he did not, the deputy sprayed Griffith’s head with pepper spray. Griffith continued to resist as he was wrestled to the floor and handcuffed. When he taken to be decontaminated, Griffith started punching the tile wall.

The two deputies tried to take him to a holding cell again. When they arrived, Griffith tried to run out of the holding area and had to be restrained. The deputies used physical force to get him into the holding cell.

Due to his continual resistance, Griffith was charged with obstruction.
