Mr. Skelton was born Oct. 30, 1926, in Lake City, Ark., the son of the late William Clint and Viola (Pennington) Skelton. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II, was retired from Delta Airlines after 38 years of service and was longtime faithful member of Forest Park Assembly of God. Mr. Skelton was a faithful servant of the Lord and a beloved husband, father and grandfather.
Surviving is his wife of 62 years, Ethel Skelton, of Cartersville, two daughters and sons-in-law, Dot and Dennis Woodall, of Cartersville; Kathy and Bryan Broadhead, of Knoxville, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Tiffany and Zane McCusker, Kimberly and Kevin Burnett, Kristen, Nicholas and Brittany Broadhead; great-grandchild, Alba Marie McCusker; a sister, Sherry, and her husband, Marty Broom; a brother, Gary Skelton, and his wife, Robin; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Ezra Metz, James and Ruby Metz, Lloyd and Barbara Metz, Sam and Irene Metz and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 24, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home, with Pastor Jim Bennett officiating.
Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, with military rites.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening, Sept. 23, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Nicholas Broadhead, Kevin Burnett, Zane McCusker, Billy Broom, Tom Easter and Jason Forsyth.
Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Drive, Cartersville, is in charge of the arrangements.
