A teenager was airlifted to an Atlanta hospital after a single-vehicle crash Tuesday morning.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, Marcos Hernandez, 19, was driving a Ford Explorer north on Highway 411 in the area of Ga. Highway 140 when he lost control and left the roadway. The vehicle struck a parked Georgia Department of Transportation tractor.

Bartow County EMS Public Information Officer said personnel arrived to find Hernandez trapped in the vehicle with numerous injuries.

Hernandez was extricated from the vehicle and flown to Atlanta Medical Center for treatment.

The GSP cited the Cartersville man for failure to maintain lane.

Heat-related issues sent two Bartow County Fire Department firefighters to the hospital.

BCFD stations 1, 4, 5, 6, 9 and 13 were called to 10 Allatoona Woods Trail about 9 a.m. Tuesday after a dryer sparked a blaze, BCFD Battalion Chief Sandy Turner said.

Residents were not home when the fire began, and the home received extensive damage. The American Red Cross was called in to assist the residents, Turner said.

Bartow County EMS PIO Brad Cothran said EMS station 6 was called for standby, and while at the scene, treated and transported two BCFD personnel to Cartersville Medical Center for heat-related problems.
