The council voted to approve the rezoning of roughly 180 acres at the intersection of Interstate 75 and State Route 140 from industrial to commercial. The site had been the possible site for Cabela's.
City Manager Pat Crook said the rezoning was "a clean-up thing" because of discrepancies in the city's zoning maps.
Also approved Tuesday was a resolution establishing city holidays and leave policy. City holidays will remain the same, but employees will now be able to carry over vacation time up to 240 hours. Previously, employees lost vacation time at year end.
In other action, the council passed an annual pest control contract for $3,600 to rid four buildings f an infestation Crook said the city discovered. The problem is "not bugs," she said, but rodents.
An amendment to the city code relating to personnel also was approved.
A notice posted on the door of city hall advised the location will close early today for the funeral of former mayor Doyal Penson. Penson, who served from 1995 to 2007, died Sunday at the age of 75.
