Adairsville baseball team wins on road

Adairsville slammed the brakes on a three-game losing streak by ripping Coahulla Creek, 7-1, in high school baseball play.

The Tigers pounded out 13 hits while allowing three in their victory on the road Tuesday against the Colts.

Cody Melton picked up the win with six innings of work in which he allowed one run on three hits and struck out eight. He issued five bases on balls.

Tristin Smith pitched the final inning for the Tigers, striking out two.

Others contributing offensively for Adairsville were Hunter Smith, 1-of-5 with a single and a run; Tyler Washington, 1-of-4 with a single and a run; Tristin Smith, 2-of-3 with a single, a double, a run and an RBI; Sean McDermott, 1-of-3 with a double, a run and an RBI; Colin Bearden, 2-of-3 with a single, a double, two runs and an RBI; Reece Spencer, 2-of-3 with a single, a double, two RBIs and a run; Nate Medlock, 2-of-4 with two singles; Lane Griffith, 1-of-2 with a single and two RBIs; Blaine Bishop, 0-of-2 got on base a hit by pitch; and Jacob Smith, 1-of-1 with a double.

The Tigers improved their overall record to 8-7 and their record in Region 5B-AAA to 2-4 with the victory.

Next up for the Tigers is Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe, who they visit today. The game is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. start.

The Colts dropped to 1-8 overall with the loss and are 0-3 in their region.
