It is rare for a baseball team at any level to overcome five errors and still win a ballgame.

However, that is precisely what Adairsville managed to do Monday, overcoming five errors in the team’s 5-4 extra inning victory over Model at home.

Nate Medlock was the hero for the Tigers as his eighth inning base hit scored Colin Bearden, who singled earlier in the inning.

The Tigers were able to record seven hits and capitalize on three Model errors to score its five runs.

Adairsville took an early lead with three runs in the bottom of the first inning after allowing two in the top of the inning.

Model then retook the lead with a run in each the second and third innings.

The Tigers tied the game in the fourth when Jacob Smith scored a run after reaching base on one of three Model errors on the day.

Bearden led the way for Adairsville with two hits, including a double. Senior Tyler Washington also recorded a hit.

On the mound, Lane Griffith and Noah O’Kelly combined to pitch the final five scoreless innings for the win.

Adairsville moves to 12-10 on the season and will play Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe at home today.
