Mrs. Alberta Benham Reed, 73, of Cartersville, died May 31, 2014.

Funeral service will be Saturday, June 7, at 2 p.m. at the Faith Temple COGIC. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, June 6, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Alberta was born June 3, 1940, in Bartow County to the late Arthur Frank Benham and Nellie Jackson Benham. She was educated in the Bartow County School System and a graduate of the Summer Hill High School.

After many years of service, she retired from Foam Made Corporation, prior to that she was employed with Machine Mills Co.

Alberta often found herself being a caretaker for many of her family and friends. She found pleasure in helping people often quoting “we are our brother’s keeper.”

She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Stephanie Dunning; one granddaughter, Gabrielle Dunning; two sisters, Wylene West and Clara Sue McRoy; two aunts, Mary Frances Benham Cooley and Louise LaGree; two goddaughters, Jakie Hides and Sanita Mitchell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
