The holiday weekend was deadly on area lakes. Three people drowned within 24 hours, including two in Lake Allatoona.

According to Sheriff Clark Millsap, Bartow EMS, fire and the Department of Natural Resources were called to the Clark Creek area around 3:51 p.m. Sunday.

The victim, a 20-year-old male, went under the water, prompting his friends to call for help. After a two-hour search, the victim's body was recovered by the Bartow EMS dive team.

No foul play or alcohol was involved. The victim has been identified as Augustine Ramirez-Del Angel of Norcross.

A second drowning was reported in the area of Lucille Avenue near the Cobb County line. Upon arrival, the area was determined to be in Cobb County and the scene was turned over to Cobb authorities. The body of Byron Brock, 42, of Acworth was recovered Monday morning after the search was halted Sunday night.

The third victim -- a 23-year-old man -- went down at Van Pugh Park North at Lake Lanier Sunday afternoon.
