Area under tornado watch until 1 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for most of north Georgia, including Bartow County, through 1 p.m. Saturday.

The threat of severe weather comes ahead of a cold front moving into Northwest Georgia this morning. Isolated thunderstorms are possible across the region today, with the primary concern being cloud-to-ground lightning, large hail and winds gusting to almost 60 mph.

Today's forecast calls for occasional showers and thunderstorms with a high near 67. Some storms could be severe, with large hail and damaging winds. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible. Tonight will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 44. Sunday's forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies, with a high near 57.
