Celebrating Earth Day and the Great American Cleanup, Keep Bartow Beautiful, partnering with the city of Cartersville and 50 volunteers to beautify the Atco neighborhood Saturday morning.

Groups from Cartersville high and middle schools, along with Direct TV, divided into smaller groups to pick up litter throughout the community as well as on Cassville and Sugar Valley roads.

According to City Planner Richard Osborne, the event was successful. "Neighborhood residents as well as other individuals helped in the effort," Osborne said. Atco Baptist Church assisted officials in allowing registration to be held in the parking lot and representatives from the Cartersville Woman's Club provided breakfast for participants. Cartersville Public Works also joined the effort, picking up trash bags left on the curbs by volunteers and residents.

A clean up will be held in Adairsville Saturday, April 23, in continuation of the monthlong event.
