The Bartow County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division said Tuesday a Cartersville man has been arrested in connection with several commercial burglaries.
According to Sheriff Clark Millsap, investigators served a search warrant at the home of Jesse Daniel Thacker, 34, of Law Road, Cartersville, Aug. 2. Investigators were seeking property taken from four Georgia Department of Transportation burglaries this year where a total of more than $85,000 worth of property was stolen.
Thacker was arrested and charged in connection with the burglaries upon execution of this warrant. He was released on a $35,000 bond.
The incidents involved: in mid-January a GDOT property on West View Drive off U.S. Highway 411 $6,402 in tools, power equipment and a Chevrolet S-10 truck were taken; the second occurred around May 14 at the GDOT location on Old Martin Road where $16,605 worth of tools, power equipment and a Ford F-150 truck were stolen; the third was the weekend prior to May 29 at the GDOT property on Joe Frank Harris Parkway south of Cartersville where $33,088 in property was stolen, including a Ford Escort, tools and power equipment; the fourth and final followed the same pattern with $31,309 worth of property, including a Ford F-150, computers, tools and power equipment, taken in early July from the GDOT location on Peeples Valley Road .
To date, investigators have recovered more than $20,000 of the stolen property, including two of the vehicles. The investigation is still ongoing and other arrests are expected as well as more property being recovered.

A 23-year-old Cartersville man is behind bars in Ohio after a crash killed one person.
According a Cincinnati TV station’s report, Robert Landress was driving a tractor-trailer on Interstate 71 north Monday when his truck struck a vehicle slowed in traffic.
The force from Landress’ truck forced the victim’s car into the tractor-trailer in front of him. The man died at the scene.
Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be a factor.
Landress is being held in the Warren County Jail.

injured in Kansas
A local family traveling in Kansas was injured Sunday attempting to avoid a head-on collision.
According to the Salina Journal, Aaron R. Mareau, 37, of Cartersville was ejected from the vehicle on Interstate Highway 70 near Goodland when the driver of the car swerved into a ditch to avoid a car traveling in his lane.
Also taken to the hospital were: Tristan R. Mareau, 16; Taryn L. Mareau, 7; Anna M. Mareau, 36; and Andon R. Mareau, 6, all of Cartersville.
