The city of Euharlee will officially swear in Craig Guyton as a new city council member Tuesday. With the new year, the young father and devoted citizen has goals for the city to help it continue to move forward and prosper while preserving its history and making the area inviting to all.

Name: Craig Guyton

Age: 40

Family: wife, Donna of 17 years, daughter Bailey, and son Griffin.

Education: Graduated from Cartersville High School, attended Georgia Tech

Occupation: General manager of a small business specializing in printing.

What specific or overall goal do you have for the city of Euharlee?

One goal I have for the city of Euharlee is for us to become less of a bedroom community. More small businesses in the city for us to be able to keep more of our money local. Also, to bring the new park online and make it an asset to our city.

What does being on the city council mean to you?

Being elected to the city council is an honor for me. I am humbled that the citizens of Euharlee entrusted me with the responsibility of our future.

Why do you want to serve?

To be an example for my children about the importance of being involved in our community.

What, if anything, would you change about the city and why?

The amount of small businesses in our city is the only thing I would like to change currently.

What are three words that describe you?

Conservative, Passionate, and Honest are three words I would like to think describe me.

Where is your favorite place to be in Bartow County?

When I am not at home with my family, I like to be at Cartersville First Baptist, serving in the choir and on the praise team.

What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?

I think a lot of people would be surprised to learn that I had a massive heart attack at the age of 37. Today, I am a lot more cardiac healthy than I have ever been. Running and cycling daily to keep my heart healthy is now part of my everyday routine. Having a heart attack at such a young age taught me that people of all ages need to be conscious of their health!

What do you love most about Euharlee?

I love that Euharlee is a family oriented community, that is a great place to raise our children!
