Nothing was decided concerning the budget during the meeting, but board members and central office administrators discussed a wide range of possible budget cuts ranging from system-wide furloughs to terminating positions currently unfilled when deemed appropriate.
Superintendent John Harper said faculty will receive an email concerning any proposed budget cuts as well as information regarding areas that are not expected to see budget cuts.
School Board President Davis Nelson said the board will advertise in The Daily Tribune News a tentative budget the week of May 30 and the board will have the official vote for the budget during their regular business session June 13.
"How much of that $15.8 [million] we deduct or we work into this year will indicate what's remaining to be cut into next year," chief financial officer Todd Hooper said, "so what we don't [cut] this year will be paramount to next year."
