The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Bartow County and much of the metro area until 3 p.m.

A cold front sweeping through the Southeast today will be accompanied by a line of strong to severe thunderstorms. Today's rain and storms will clear out, turning windy and colder for Wednesday.

The biggest threat associated with the storms pushing through the area will be damaging winds and possible tornadoes. While the chance exists for much of Georgia, the greatest threat for tornadoes will be south of Interstate 20 during the afternoon hours, according to the National Weather Service.

Today's forecast calls for chance of rain and storms with a high in the mid-60s. Rainfall amounts could reach as much as three-quarters of an inch. Wednesday will be sunny and colder, with highs only reaching the upper 40s and winds between 15 and 20 mph and gusts up to 30 mph possible.
