Saturday morning at approximately 6:48 a.m. Cartersville fire crews responded to 26 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

Stations One and Two were on the scene just before a normal shift change at 7 a.m. Along with the first group of crews, more assistance arrived with the oncoming battalion chief.

"Heavy damage occurred," said Chief Ray King. A total loss has not been officially claimed, along with an undetermined cause.

"The preliminary investigation leads to very old wiring," said King. Final results from the investigation are expected to be released Monday.

The residence was not occupied and no injuries were reported. No other areas were affected and the owner has been notified of the incident.
