The regional blood center donations are down due to the normal summer shortages.
The Fourth of July holiday is fast approaching and the regional blood center is asking the communities to help increase the blood inventory for the patients in the Blood Assurance service area.
The summer months often mean more accidents and trauma, making the need for blood donations even more critical.
Donors must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with parental consent) and weigh at least 110 pounds.
Donors are encouraged to eat a good meal and drink plenty of water prior to donating. For more information on eligibility, call 1-800-962-0628 or visit www.bloodassurance.org.
The Cartersville Blood Assurance donation center is at 921-B Joe Frank Harris Parkway in the Collins Pointe Plaza. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the first Saturday of each month.
