Mrs. Bonnell Fowler, 82, of Fairmount, departed this life Saturday evening, Oct. 13, 2012, at her home surrounded by her loving family and special caregivers. Bonnell was born July 15, 1930, in Gordon County, a daughter of the late George Barton and Minnie Eleanor Holt Woodward. She wa also preceeded in death by a brother, Eugene Woodward and her sister, Annabelle Thomas.

She always enjoyed cooking a big Sunday dinner for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was happiest when her home was full of family. She loved to sew and garden and fill her yard with beautiful flowers. She loved music and was self-taught on the guitar and piano. She loved to sing and for many years she sang with her husband and her uncle, Wayne Holt, on his gospel radio program in Cartersville.

Bonnell sang at many funerals and churches in the Fairmount, Gordon County and Bartow County area. She met her future husband and the love of her life, Austin Fowler, at a revival service at the Oak Hill Baptist Church. She was a member of the Salacoa Baptist Church. She was retired from Lacy Mills, where she worked for more than 30 years.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Austin Fowler of the residence; sons and daughter-in-law, Michael and Kim Fowler and Gary Fowler, all of Fairmount; daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Billy Parker of Adairsville; brothers, J.R. Woodward of Fairmount, Richard Woodward of Lake Toxaway, N.C.; grandchildren, Kathy and james Adams, David and Heather Parker, Amanda and Kevin King and Emily Ceballos; great-grandchildren, Patrick and Samantha Adams, Tristen Parker, Abigail and Kaleb King, Lucas and Isaac Ceballos and several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Bonnell Fowler were held Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 2 p.m. at Ponders Fairmount Chapel with Rev. Wayne Fowler and Rev. Wesley Hunt officiating. Singing and music were by Sally Jones.

She was laid to rest at the Salacoa Baptist Church Cemetery in Cherokee County with Ricky Woodward, James Adams, Jonathan Woodward, David Parker, Kevin King and Randy Defoor serving as pallbearers.

The family received friends at Ponders Fairmount Chapel from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday and after 10 a.m. until the service hour on Tuesday.
