Cartersville police are looking into what prompted a fatal shooting Sunday evening at a car wash.

Cartersville Police Department Public Information Officer Capt. Mark Camp said Monday morning that Randal Statler Jr., 28, was found beside his truck at the Sun Glo Car Wash, 390 MLK, just after 11 p.m.

Statler had been "mudding" earlier in the day, Camp said, and it appears he was washing the mud from his truck when he was shot. Based on the evidence, it appears the shooting occurred between 7 and 11 p.m.

Camp said a motive is unclear and could not rule out robbery.

Quarters were found around the body but Camp said police were working to determine if Statler may have been robbed of cash or other valuables.
