Mr. Chitwood was born March 18, 1928, in Bartow County, the son of the late Homer and Bessie (Couch) Chitwood and was of the Baptist Faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Aileen Chitwood; two sisters, Irene Burnette and Christine Craig; and a brother, Donald Chitwood.
Surviving are his sisters, Lucille Burnette and Betty Jo Craig and her husband Leroy, all of Adairsville, Margaret Smith and her husband Albert of Euharlee, Judy Moore and Rachel Cole and her husband Doyle, all of Cartersville; a brother, Franklin Chitwood of Philadelphia; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 18, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Moore officiating.
Burial will follow in Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Tracy Moore, Chuck Moore, Kenneth Chitwood, Donald Rena Chitwood, Luke Townsend, Mark Cornett and Albert Smith
Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Drive, Cartersville, is in charge of the arrangements.
