Canes Fun Camp offers crash course in sports

Initially, Rusty Grimmett had hoped to offer fellow Cartersville City Schools employees a place to send their kids for a few days when Canes Fun Camp opened.

In the years since, though, Grimmett and his staff of coaches and high school students have been able to provide an experience that introduces kids to track and field, while offering other sports like football and soccer.

"There was a need when we first started this three years ago," said Grimmett, a Cartersville Primary School employee and head track and field coach at Cartersville High School.
