Alyssa, now 12, was diagnosed with an inoperable brain stem glioma (brain tumor) and the family has just learned that Alyssa has two more brain tumors.
In an effort to show community support for Alyssa, and to raise money to help the family offset medical expenses, a carnival is planned for June 11. Featuring live entertainment from Kerry's School of Dance, Codey Bearden, the gymnasts, tumblers and stunters from Devilrays and others, the theme will have something to entertain adults and children.
An inflatable bouncy house, sumo wrestling, face painting and a cake walk also will be among activities. Tickets for games and events will be sold for $1 each, or participants can purchase 25 for $20. Hamburgers, hot dogs, cotton candy and snow cones will be for sale and dinner plates will be $5 each.
T-shirts, hairbows, car decals and bracelets also will be for sale.
The carnival is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. and last through 8 p.m. at the Houston Suggs Building at 35 Beavers Drive, Cartersville. For more information, visit the event Facebook page: Alyssa's Carnival for a Cure.
