Members of the Boys & Girls Clubs were greeted by 20 of the 43 current CSL members as they entered their luau-decorated center Thursday afternoon.
"The children had been looking forward to Fun Day with great anticipation," Rhodes said. "It is sort of the grand finale to our weekly volunteer efforts throughout the school year. We were so fortunate to have such tremendous support from local vendors in our community. Without donations from Cici's Pizza and Russell Andrews, RA Music Factory, the event would not have been the same."
Children were served pizza & cookies and then given the option to dance in the gym with a live DJ, work on a craft project in the art room or play outside with newly donated items from the CSL such as hula hoops, playground balls, jump ropes and sidewalk chalk.
Johnson said, "I just love watching these kids have a good time. We did for them what we wouldn't think twice about doing for our own kids, and they were so appreciative."
As each child went home for the day, they were given goody bags filled with donations from members of the CSL and also Chick-fil-A, Today's Dentistry and Cici's Pizza.
