On a day when spectators wrapped themselves in blankets to keep warm, Cartersville’s tennis teams stayed hot with their third region victory in three days.

Gordon Central fell on Tuesday, North Murray was beaten on Wednesday and Ringgold was no match for Cartersville on Thursday at Dellinger Park.

The Lady Canes lost only one match in their sweep of the Tigers, while the Canes were tested in their No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles matches. Still, they won handily, 5-0.

“It was a good week of tennis for Cartersville,” coach Melissa Moore. “Every time we win a match, our tennis players see it as a win for the school and not for themselves.”

In Cartersville boys’ play, Trevor Gotkowski won 6-0, 6-0; Nathan Slocum dropped his first set 1-6 before rallying to win the second set, 6-4, and 10-5 in the tiebreaker, and Drew Adsit won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1.
