Ryan Davis hit a 3-pointer as the buzzer sounded, and Cartersville won despite trailing virtually the whole way Friday night at North Murray.

The 63-60 victory leaves the Canes 24-0 and ranked No. 1 in the state in their classification, with one game remaining on its season.

The Canes trailed after quarters one, two and three but broke a 60-60 tie when Davis shot his 3-pointer from the top of the key. The buzzer sounded while the ball was in the air.

Cartersville had tied the game at 60-all with about 12 seconds remaining.

It was the closest call of the season for the Canes, who are on the cusp of perfection in their regular season.

The closest previous challenge for Cartersville was against Model on Dec. 21 in the finals of the Rome News-Tribune Holiday Tournament, which they won by a 65-55 score.

Next up for Cartersville is Gordon Central, who they play Monday at home. Tipoff for that game is at 7:30 p.m.
