Kevin Cunningham, head boys coach, said the victories have come because of the effort the players are making.
“We have a very young team,” Cunningham said, “and we are excited about how they are playing. They are working very hard for us.”
In play Wednesday, Avery Cornett won at the singles No. 1 position, 6-0, 6-0, while Eric Dunlap won 6-2, 6-2 at the singles No. 2 position and Jacob McBrayer won 6-2, 6-2 at the singles No. 3 line.
At doubles No. 1, Logan Barrere and Josh Musilli picked up their victory, 6-3, 6-2, at the doubles No. 2 slot.
The victory improved the Colonels’ record to 2-1 on the season.
Meanwhile, the Cass Lady Colonels continued their winning ways against Gordon Central with a sweep.
Winning at the singles No. 1 position was Ryleigh Lanham, 6-1, 6-0; at the singles No. 2 slot, Aleigh Beard, 6-0, 6-1; and at the singles No. 3 spot, Jessica Frank, 7-5, 6-3.
At the doubles No. 1 slot, Flower Nation and Morgan Mayton schooled their opponents, 6-0, 6-0, while at the doubles No. 2 position, Callie Dodd and Hannah Howard won 6-3, 6-2.
Head coach Brooke McDurmon said the Lady Colonels also are off to a good start.
The 5-0 victory against Gordon Central helped Cass improve its overall record to 3-0 this season.
The Cass boys and girls teams next play Thursday when they visit Marietta.
