GHC jumped out to an early lead on Andrew College and captured a 10-3 GCAA victory on Tuesday at the East Cobb Baseball Complex.

“This was the best we’ve played all season in the four phases of the game,” said Highlands head coach Mike Marra. “Two-out hits, flawless defense, excellent starting pitching and smart, aggressive baseball was on display by our guys all night long.

“That’s Charger baseball.”

Five runs in the first three innings allowed the Chargers, who are now 4-5 in conference and 10-14 overall, to put the game away early.

A walk by Camden McGill and a two-run double by Freddie Beamon during the second inning supplied the early offense for the

Chargers.

Beamon racked up three RBIs on three hits for GHC.

Tyler Elwer recorded the win for the Chargers. He allowed three runs over 8 1/3 innings. Elwer struck out six, walked two and gave up 11 hits.

After a quick strike from Andrew College, GHC responded with four runs in the fifth. The Chargers scored on an RBI single by Khari Anderson and a two-run single by Beamon.

The Chargers quickly matched Andrew College’s strong inning with a one-run inning of its own in the eighth. GHC scored on an RBI single by Gavin Peters.

GHC will travel to Cuthbert this weekend for a three-game set at Andrew College.
