Child hit near Hwy. 293 identified

The child hit by a vehicle near Ga. Highway 293 has been identified as Ean Xavier Jobgen, 11, of Cartersville.

Jobgen had been attempting to cross Highway 293 at Dean Street with his father when he stepped into the side of a Jeep traveling northbound. Jobgen was airlifted to Scottish Rite with a leg injury.

No charges were filed.

Adairsville home damaged in fire

The Bartow County Fire Department responded to a fire at 439 Old Highway 41, Adairsville, early Friday morning.

The first unit on the scene reported heavy fire coming from the front of the building, said Bartow County Fire Marshal Bryan Cox. According to Cox the home suffered heavy fire damage to 75 percent of its structure.

While the cause is undetermined at this time, Cox said the fire started on the front porch before burning into the living area and attic. A 35-year-old female resident was reported to have a minor injury and was treated by Bartow County Emergency Medical Services at the scene.
