Staff Reports

On Tuesday, the Cartersville Police Department responded twice to Chili's, first regarding a burglar alarm and later in reference to a burglary report. The dayshift manager said that between 11:30 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. Tuesday a person(s) entered the office and opened the safe, removing about $1,000 cash.

When he arrived at work he observed that the office door window trim had been pried loose, but not removed from the door. He then observed that the door was slightly bent near the door knob. He entered the office and the safe door was closed, but when he opened the petty cash box that was inside, it was empty. The cash register drawers and the "tip bag" also were missing. It was later discovered that they had been locked in the safe.

There is no security video inside the building. While the cleaning crew, which came into the building from about 1 to 2 a.m., has a code to deactivate and then reactivate the alarm, the only alarm activation in the last 24 hours was when the closing store manager left on Monday at 11:30 p.m.

Cartersville man reported missing

A missing persons report was filed with the Cartersville Police Department Tuesday concerning Cartersville resident Charlie White Jr.

Although separated from White, his wife said she has been unable to contact her husband since Saturday about 9 a.m.

A disabled veteran, White is on a number of prescriptions for anxiety, depression, Chrones disease and other medical issues. Even though he is not licensed and should not be driving, White's Chrysler Sebring is not at his residence. White's medical supplies and medications were left behind.

Mobile home fire

The Bartow County Fire Department responded to a mobile home fire on Pecan Lane in Acworth around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The double-wide home was a total loss, the residents were at home at the time of the fire but no injuries were reported.

Four stations responded to the call with crews working the scene until almost 5 p.m. The fire was contained to the mobile home and no other structures were affected.
