Connie Sanford, 91, of Cassville Road, Cartersville, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2012.

Mrs. Sanford was born May 9, 1920 in Bartow County, the daughter of the late, Elihue Richard and Nevada Augusta (Howell) Abernathy, was a homemaker and a member of Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church.

She enjoyed fishing, putt-putt golf and most of all her time as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. For those who knew her they would agree her passing on a Saints holiday fitting, as she truly was a living angel who will be missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Hugh Tanner Sanford and brothers, Odie, Melvin and Oliver Abernathy.

Surviving is her daughter and son in law, Lois and William Crowder, son, Tony Sanford, grandchildren, Richard and Pam Crowder, great grandchildren, Cainen ad Chase Crowder, brother, Dewitt Abernathy, all of Cartersville and a sister and brother in law, Bonnie and John Waits of Emerson and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 19, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with rev. Bob Mitchell and Rev. Charles (Johnny) Cox officiating.

Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Russ Jolley, Jonathan Owens, Michael Abernathy, Mike Mercer, Orville Williams and Bill Seago.
