Mrs. Curdie Abernathy Keys Hardin, age 92, of Cartersville, passed away Friday morning, May 6, 2011.

Mrs. Hardin was born Nov. 5, 1918, in Bartow County, daughter of the late John Thomas Abernathy and Darley Arizona Howell Abernathy. She was a life-long resident of Bartow County where she was a member of the Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband; Frank T. Keys and Silas Hardin; brothers and sister, W.B. Abernathy, Cladie Adernathy, E.R. Abernathy and Doyle Abernathy; a son-in-law, George Couch and by a step-daughter, Frances Garland.

Survivors include her children; Dianne Keys Couch, Wallace W. and Gail Keys and Douglas G. and Elaine Keys; grandchildren, Frankie Bryant, Vivian Couch, Vance and Diana Keys, Stefanie Venable, Jessica and Chad Collins; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brothers and sisters, Silas Abernathy, Mahala Taylor, Wayne Abernathy, Philip Abernathy, Earl Abernathy and James Abernathy; step-children, Doug and Martha Hardin, Lavane Sutton; a number of step-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon, May 8, at 2 p.m., at the Owen Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Wayne Peters and Elder Marty Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5 until 9 p.m., at Owen Funeral Home.

Pallbearers include Andrew Abernathy, Richard Abernathy, Doyle Abernathy, Stan Abernathy, Barry Abernathy, Philip Abernathy, Lloyd Taylor, Bruce Taylor and Kenny Abernathy.
