According to Bartow County Sheriff Clark Millsap and Cartersville Police Chief Tommy Culpepper, task force agents executed a search warrant at 4 Cedar Lane, Cartersville, that led to the seizure of a large quantity of marijuana, currency and firearms.
Bartow-Cartersville Drug Task Force Commander Capt. Mark Mayton said agents had received creditable information that an escapee from Richmond County Correctional Institute was located at 4 Cedar Lane. During the arrest, agents found marijuana in the residence. Mayton said as a result, a search warrant was executed on the residence where agents located more marijuana, currency believed to be proceeds from drug sales and firearms.
Culpepper and Millsap said agents are still following information gathered during this investigation and more arrests are possible.
Arrested were Charles Justin Moore, 24, of Richmond County Correctional Institute, who was charged with escape, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of firearm by convicted felon and possession of a firearm during a VGCSA felony.
Thompson Collins Newkirk, 23, of 4 Cedar Lane Cartersville, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during a VGCSA felony.
