On Tuesday, agents with the Bartow-Cartersville Drug Task Force FBI Safe Streets Task Force and United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested an individual who was an escapee from Richmond County Correctional Institute, as well as one who was present at the time of the escapee's arrest. Both men will face additional charges, including drug and weapons counts.

According to Bartow County Sheriff Clark Millsap and Cartersville Police Chief Tommy Culpepper, task force agents executed a search warrant at 4 Cedar Lane, Cartersville, that led to the seizure of a large quantity of marijuana, currency and firearms.

Bartow-Cartersville Drug Task Force Commander Capt. Mark Mayton said agents had received creditable information that an escapee from Richmond County Correctional Institute was located at 4 Cedar Lane. During the arrest, agents found marijuana in the residence. Mayton said as a result, a search warrant was executed on the residence where agents located more marijuana, currency believed to be proceeds from drug sales and firearms.

Culpepper and Millsap said agents are still following information gathered during this investigation and more arrests are possible.

Arrested were Charles Justin Moore, 24, of Richmond County Correctional Institute, who was charged with escape, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of firearm by convicted felon and possession of a firearm during a VGCSA felony.

Thompson Collins Newkirk, 23, of 4 Cedar Lane Cartersville, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during a VGCSA felony.

Bartow County Sheriff's deputies arrest three fugitives with help from tipster

According to Millsap, deputies responded to 19 Dogwood Drive to attempt to locate and arrest Jimmy Tyrone Beavers, 45, of Cartersville on an outstanding parole warrant. Deputies had been to that residence several weeks ago to try to arrest Beavers and he was able to get away from them on foot that night.

During the evening hours of Feb. 7, a Crimestoppers tipster called 770-606-TIPS and gave information that Beavers may be located at that residence again. The tipster gave specific information on where Beavers was staying in a building on the property. That time, deputies were able to locate Beavers. When he was located, he grabbed a wooden stick and held it in an offensive manner. Deputies deployed a taser on Beavers and he was taken into custody.

Millsap said two others with Beavers in the building were also arrested for outstanding warrants. Stephanie Dawn Tate, 26, of Adairsville and Douglas Jerome Dodd, 48, of Cartersville were also arrested. Tate was arrested for two outstanding theft warrants and Dodd for an outstanding probation warrant. The tipster, in this case, is eligible to receive a cash reward once the Crimestoppers board reviews the case and agrees on an award amount.
