Distracted driver charged in South Bridge accident

One driver has been issued a citation for failure to yield as the cause of an accident at South Bridge Road and Highway 41 that sent several people to Cartersville Medical Center Wednesday. The driver stated that he had looked back to check on his children while turning left and did not see the second driver traveling south on Highway 41. All victims were treated by Cartersville Medical Center for injuries varying from back pain to head injuries.

Woman reports rape at park

Thursday a woman asked a resident at 129 Douglas St. to call Cartersville police to report a rape. The woman stated that she had been attacked and raped while sitting near the picnic tables of a local park. No suspects have been identified at this time.

Woman finds human feces in yard

A homeowner at 168 Bunch Mountain Road in Adairsville filed a report Wednesday with the Bartow County Sheriff's Office stating that someone had trespassed on her property and defecated in the yard. She stated that she found the pile of feces and toilet tissue and witnessed a male urinating in her direction. She also found a spray painted blue line where the property is divided. No suspects are known.



Man eludes officers

A man fled from Cartersville police during a traffic stop Wednesday afternoon. The driver, a male wearing a dirt bike helmet and no shirt had been traveling at speeds up to 80 miles per hour and fled into the woods at Smiley Ingram and Center Roads. The suspect was found hiding in the woods and taunted a county deputy to "catch" him. After tasing the man he was detained and transported to the jail.



Two assault man during drug deal gone bad

Wednesday night a fight was reported at 127 N. Erwin St. Cartersville police stated that the victim complained that two known suspects refused to give him change for a $100 bill in order to buy pills. The suspects refused to return the money and when he reached into their vehicle both men began punching him and held him to the vehicle as they attempted to pull away. The man was dragged alongside the vehicle before falling out of the window and into the parking lot.
