Emerson's city council wrapped up a quick regular meeting Monday night with approvals of second readings.

Previously, the city had discussed an amendment to a sign ordinance, changing the text on the signs. A Bartow County Board of Education variance request also was approved.

Continuing on to new business, two resolutions were approved. A bid for a water main replacement project on Red Top Circle was awarded to the lowest of six bidders, set to cost approximately $235,000.

The right of way for an unimproved portion of Ohio Avenue was released to the property owners so that they may develop the area if desired in the future.

The Emerson city council is set to meet again at 7 p.m. at city hall on Sept. 26.
