In a meeting that saw little action, Emerson City Council on Monday held several first readings on rezoning requests.

The city heard first readings of the applications for: 0.5 acres at 43 Gaston Westbrook Ave.; 1.41 acres at 105 2nd St.; 0.723 acres at 647 Highway 293.

An annexation and rezoning of 1.217 acres by John Levy was approved, as were construction plans by Levy for grading at 174 Bevil Ridge Road.

Likewise, the council heard a first reading of the building code chapter 5 on structures.

Following a recommendation by the planning and zoning commission, the council voted to postpone a measure on the sign ordinance.

The city also announced the 2012 Great American Cleanup event is set for 8 a.m. at Emerson City Hall.
