Adairsville suffered a one-run loss, 3-2, to Pepperell at home Tuesday, which wasted a solid performance from its sophomore pitching sensation.

Lady Tigers' hurler Taylor Weeks struck out 10 Lady Dragons in the Region 7A-AA softball game but didn't get much help from her defense, which committed six errors in yielding three unearned runs. Weeks also gave up four hits and three walks.

Errors have plagued Adairsville this season, said Lady Tigers' coach Meghan Johnson, but Tuesday's defensive effort was an improvement from previous games.

"We didn't have as many (errors) as we have had in the past," Johnson continued. "Even though we were making errors, we were able to hold 'em, which is something we hadn't been able to do."

The Lady Tigers scored their runs on a third-inning triple by Erica Cannon, who went 1-for-3, and a sixth-inning double by Weeks, who went 2-for-2 with a walk.

Cassidy Howren, 2-for-3 with a double, provided Adairsville's other hits.

"We had great hits, we just couldn't piece 'em together," said Johnson, whose team couldn't muster any additional offense.

Despite the loss, Adairsville (3-8, 1-3) appears pointed down the right path.

"We're starting to look like a team," Johnson said. "I think we're in the right direction. We're just not quite there yet."

The Lady Tigers are at Model Thursday; the game begins at 5 p.m.
