During Tuesday night's work session, the Euharlee City Council tossed around ideas for the future of the Euharlee Dormitory located downtown.

Mayor Kathy Foulk said tornadoes damaged the building several years ago and the building has fallen victim to the elements.

Councilman Sammy Carden said after looking at the structure, he felt it would be cost prohibitive to attempt to resurrect the facility and suggested contacting a reclamation company.

Joseph "Jo Jo" Turner agreed, saying he didn't see the city putting money in restoration without a future plan for the dormitory.

Also Tuesday, the council:

* Heard a proposal from Joshua Lehto for an Eagle Scout project. He said he would like to landscape a large area in front of city hall that is currently covered in large-sized gravel.

* Discussed the idea of allowing the public to purchase memory benches that could be placed around the city. Because of design concerns, the council agreed to pass the idea to the historical committee for review.

* Heard from Planning and Zoning Administrator Ron Goss Jr. on appointing three members to the Planning and Zoning Commission. Two board members' terms will be up at the end of the summer and one member has submitted a letter of resignation.

The city will accept applications, which can be obtained from Betty Jane Tilley at city hall, through July 15. Applications will be considered during a July 20 work session.

* Entered into executive session to discuss personnel matters. No action was taken.
